GA Range
A make of turf aerators, with 4 models: 1 pedestrian, and 3 tractor mounted. The pedestrian model has a 0.61m working width, with a tine penetration to 75mm, using standard tines of 13mm diameter. The mounted models have working widths of 1.38m, 1.78m and 1.83m. The depth of penetration for these models varies from 25mm to 203mm. These are manufactured by Jacobsen.
GreenWave
A make of tractor mounted linear aerator and decompactor, for particular use on fine turf surfaces. The tractor power needed for this machine is from 24-30 hp. 'Shockwave' has a working width of 1.2m and a working depth of 150mm. The machine has blades that each have a thickness of 8mm. The typical working speed is 0.7mph. It is manufactured by Imants.
Javelin [2]
A make of tractor mounted aerator with vertical action solid tines. It has a working width of 1.5-metres, and a maximum working depth of 127mm; it is manufactured by SISIS.
Javelin Aer-Aid
A make of tractor mounted aerator with vertical action tines and which injects air directly into the root zone. It can also be used just with solid tines, as well as air injected tines. It has a working width of 1.5-metres, and a maximum working depth of 127mm; it is manufactured by SISIS.
Lawnaire
A make of pedestrian operated barrel-roll aerator, with. Arrange of models, including:
• Model IV Plus has a working width of 480mm, producing 81 holes per square metre, and to a maximum depth of 70mm, and a capacity of up to 2,700m² per hour.
• Model V has a working width of 670mm, producing 81 holes per square metre, and to a maximum depth of 70mm, and a capacity of up to 3,700m² per hour.
They are manufactured by Ryan.
Level Spike
A make of tractor mounted turf aerator, using a range of slit type tines or hollow tines. There are two models, with a working width of either 1.8m or 2.4m, and a maximum working depth of 250mm, depending upon the tines used; it is manufactured by Redexim-Charterhouse.
Linear Aeration
A continuous narrow channel or slit created in a turf surface by a vertical slicing action of a metal tine. The depth of channel or slit will vary according to the equipment used and the ground conditions in which it is used. Heavier duty linear aeration can decompact a soil profile, depending upon soil conditions and the type of tine used, as well as the degree of calculated sub-surface disturbance allowed for when adjusting the equipment for use.
