About
Turf AI is the result of research into the concepts and imaginations of artificial intelligence combined with insights into applied neuroscience to enhance the online learning experience. It is an ongoing project.
This research aims to improve memory retention and recall for a learner, improve the learning process for personal development, develop AI models that improve user efficiency and effectiveness in grounds management, and to provide a wealth of open access short training courses that apply research outcomes. In addition, further information is provided to help develop creative thought and inquisitiveness.
Our initial focus is on grounds management, which encompasses groundskeeping and greenkeeping, eventually expanding into the wider field of horticulture. Embedded within this focus is not just the expected technical aspects, but also an exploration of related education, employment, management techniques, science and sustainability principles, as well as identifying the availability, past and present, of commercial products and organisations.
Some of the desired benefits of this research that contextualises (being industry specific) the open access approach are:
- The promotion of equality of access and opportunity.
- Encouraging personal development at a pace and time best suited to an individual.
- Reducing financial barriers to learning: Zero cost to an employee, or minimal cost to an employer where they are supporting an individual.
- Developing a range of employability skills through self-directed study.
- To encourage critical thinking and challenging of current work practices and thought processes to better meet the evolving needs of modern society and technologies.
- Providing wider opportunities for employers to support employees in lifelong and continuous learning, complementing their other training initiatives.
- Providing a platform for new entrants and others to gain a better understanding of the grounds management and horticulture industry. It can also to develop and improve their level of confidence in a new workplace.
