These were amended in 2002, (by the Health and Safety (Miscellaneous Amendments) Regulations 2002), with the regulations placing duties on employers and employees to have and use effective manual handling systems in place to reduce the potential for workplace injury.

This is a number which is applied to a pesticide product (which may contain more than one active ingredient) once it has been registered for commercial use with the CRD. Any product sold within the UK will have this number on the product label, and is often abbreviated to MAPP.

Section 9 (3) states the minimum age for driving a tractor is 16, where the tractor is less than 2.45 metres wide, and “is driven either— (i) without a trailer attached to it, or (ii) with a trailer which has an overall width not exceeding 2.45 metres and is either a two-wheeled or close-coupled four-wheeled trailer,”. This provides the basis for enforcement and sanctions against manufacturers, importers and distributors of PPE where PPE does not comply with the EU Regulation 2016/425; the full title of which is ‘Regulation (EU) 2016/425 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 9 March 2016 on personal protective equipment and repealing Council Directive 89/686/EEC (Text with EEA relevance)’.

This is a number which is applied to a pesticide product (which may contain more than one active ingredient) once it has been approved for commercial use in Ireland with the Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine. Any pesticide product sold within Ireland will have this number on the product label. Pesticide products sold within the UK may have both the MAPP and PCS number, which helps suppliers in distributing a common product between Ireland and the UK, otherwise separate labels would be needed.
