These are usually liquid ‘soups’ consisting of a wide range of organic extracts (which might include components called abscisic acid, alginates, amino acids, auxins, cytokinins, fulvic acid, humic acid, and more) and sometimes also some of the nutrients required in very small amounts by plants.
This material is often diluted in water and then applied to a surface or rootzone. Typically, these materials would be used on sandier soils, pitches that are maintained to a very high quality, or pitches that have been exposed to high levels of chemical pesticide which will often have suppressed or killed off many beneficial micro-organisms that might have previously lived in the soil.
