4.2.4 Line marking / paint material

What is the main type of material that is mostly used for marking out a football pitch?

1   A pitch has to be marked out otherwise it isn’t a pitch, but just a patch of grass. Nice white lines are required.

Either paint or powder diluted with water are typically used, although paint is easy to store, handle and dilute to a required consistency and is most likely the most common material used for line marking nowadays.

2   Paint will also typically be used to freshen up goal posts, crossbars, and flag poles prior to a new season starting.

There are numerous well-known brands of suitable exterior paint for wood or metal work, for which you may need primer, undercoat as well as topcoat.
