POWERgrass Hybrid Grass
A synthetic material, which is used for the reinforcement of a turfgrass, especially sports, surface, with the backing being a close interlocking mesh. The fibres on the carpet eventually form about 3% of the surface sward, with natural grass forming the remaining 97%. A lower shallow layer infill, immediately above the carpet backing material, is formed with cork, and this is then surmounted by a deeper layer of sand and Zoe sand. It is manufactured by POWERgrass.
SISGrass
An artificial grass blade which is stitched into a rootzone to produce a ‘Hybrid Pitch', a reinforced pitch, which is suitable for higher league clubs. The material is stitched to 180mm depth into a rootzone and projects 20mm above the surface. A completed pitch has an approximate coverage of 5% artificial grass blades and 95% natural grass leaves. It is manufactured by SIS Pitches.
SISGrass Lite
An artificial grass blade which is stitched into a rootzone to produce a reinforced pitch which is suitable for lower league clubs. The material is stitched to 90mm depth into a rootzone and projects 10mm above the surface. It has a 2 to 3-year life span and can be readily removed and replaced at the end of this period. It is manufactured by SIS Pitches.
VHAF
Abbreviation for Vertical Horizontal and Angular Fibres; an artificial sand-filled needle punched grass carpet developed during the 1980s. It is produced by Notts Sport.
XtraGrass
A synthetic woven material, which is used for the reinforcement of a turfgrass, especially sports, surface. The backing is partially biodegradable. It is manufactured by Greenfields.
Xtreme Grass
A synthetic woven material, which is used for the reinforcement of a turfgrass, especially sports, surface, with the backing being a close interlocking mesh. It is manufactured by Act Global.
