Chlorthal-Dimethyl
A residual herbicide which was previously used to control annual dicotyledons in exposed soil areas, as well as for the control of slender speedwell in turf situations, although it was not recommended for use in bentgrass swards. However, it is no longer approved for use.
Clopyralid

A product name for a selective herbicide that had the active ingredient Alloxydim sodium and was previously used (in the 1980s and 90s) to control bracken and grasses. It is no longer approved for use in the UK.
Clovotox
A product name for a selective herbicide which is no longer approved for use in the UK. It was a soluble concentrate containing the active ingredient of Mecoprop-P, being used to aid the control of clover, pearlwort, yarrow and a range of other turf weeds.
Crossbar
A product name for a selective herbicide, containing 2,4-D (285g/ltr), Dicamba (52.5g/ltr) and Fluroxypyr (105g/ltr) as the active ingredients, being applied at a rate of 2 litres of concentrate per hectare for established turf and 0.95 litres of concentrate per hectare for newly sown turf. The volume of water for mixing the concentrate into ranges form 200-1,000 (the optimum being 200-350) litres per hectare. It is supplied by Barclay Chemicals Manufacturing Ltd.
Dakar Pro
A product name (also called Glyfos Dakar Pro) for a non-selective herbicide containing the active ingredient glyphosate (680g/kg), being mainly used for post emergent vegetation control on hard, or similar, surfaces. It is supplied by Agrostis Amenity and manufactured by Chemin ova A/S.
Dalapon
A herbicide which was previously used to control annual and perennial weed grasses, including couch grass, in exposed soil areas, but is no longer approved for use. It was a non-selective herbicide of monocotyledons so would not have been used on turfgrass surfaces, unless the grass was wanting to have been killed off prior to cultivation.
Dazomet
An active ingredient of a former soil fumigant of fungi weed seeds, nematodes and previously used as granular prills to sterilise soil prior to use in turf situations, in seed or turf beds or in piles of soil for construction or top-dressing purposes. A product name for this was Basamid.
Defoliant
A chemical, being a herbicide, which kills plants and is used for the premature removal leaves from plants, especially trees and scrub, with the foliage dropping off the plant.
Depitone Ultra
A product name for a selective herbicide, containing 2,4-D (600g/l) as the active ingredient, being applied a rate of 2 litres of concentrate mixed with 200-500 litres of water per hectare. It can be applied just once per year and is supplied by Nufarm UK Ltd.
