The measures taken before a substance, material or product has become waste. This will help to reduce the quantity of waste, the negative environmental impacts of the waste, and the content of harmful substances in materials and products.
Water Footprint
The total amount of water used (both directly and indirectly) in the manufacture of a product or provision of a service. A water footprint might include water from rivers or boreholes, potable water delivered via the mains water supply, reused /recycled grey water, or ‘green' water which is water consumed by a plant from rainfall accumulating in a soil and used in the growth of a plant, and being lost through transpiration by the plant.

Water Reduction in Use
Reducing watering can help save not just money but also reduce the demand from a valuable and increasingly scarce natural resource. Activities which can be carried out to help reduce water use, especially during hot or drought conditions, without having an unacceptable impact on turf condition are:
Water Use
An Environmental Sustainability Indicator.
• Brief Description: Water is used mainly for irrigating turfgrass surfaces, bedding plants, hanging baskets etc.
The amount of water used to supply changing rooms, ground staff facilities etc. should also ideally needs to be accounted for.
Working Conditions
A Social Sustainability Indicator.
• Brief Description: This is a quality rating by employees. It looks at their opinion of working conditions, to include staff satisfaction survey results, number of accidents / incidents, pay in relation to industry average etc.
