Football Pitch Groundskeeping Course

  Other Information

The Football Pitch Groundskeeping Course Index, which is located in the breadcrumb bar at the top of each web page provides quick links to each of the modules, just in case you wish to randomly dip into them.

In addition, there is also a progress bar within each module to indicate how much of the course content has been covered and how much of that module is remaining.

To help everyone better understand for themselves the learning that has taken place we have also included a final ‘Self-assessment’ module at the end of the course.

This is all informal because no results are stored.

In addition, the self-assessment module will also help identify areas that might require further study if a learner is interested in investigating them further.

  Course design

Creating a course that provides a suitable breadth and depth of coverage, to give exposure to relevant knowledge and skills, whilst being presented in such a way that it engages and motivates a learner to address their concerns about how to look after a football pitch is certainly a challenging design task. This can be even more challenging when the course is being delivered as an online, unsupported, self-study course.

As with all courses, the initial structure, content and learning journey will need to be updated as part of a continuous improvement process that reflect feedback, changes in technologies and approaches that might be taken for a learning journey.

There will always be queries for any course design, especially about including or excluding something, or whether something should have had more or less coverage, but overall, we consider this course provides a suitable balance of providing a sound basis for to better understand groundskeeping and the looking after of a football pitch.

The course also provides an ideal stepping-stone from which better informed decisions can be made and, just as importantly, it should create a curiosity bubble that initiates and develops questions that further improves an individual’s ability and work performance.
