Keeping a surface clear of debris, especially fallen leaves in the autumn, helps to produce a well presented and healthier pitch.

Routine sweeping or vacuuming might also be carried out on intermediate to higher class pitches to help keep the surface clear of loose and decaying vegetative matter that can arise following slit-tine aeration, scarification or where clippings haven’t been removed by a mower.
