A designated area used to protect workers from a hazard, such as passing vehicles on a road, which may be required when mowing, or maintaining, roadside verges.

The aim is to keep a minimum distance between a worker and a hazard.

A safety zone should not be entered by a worker, unless there is a need to safely adjust or repair signage, cones, or similar which have become displaced, or similar.
