Artificial Intelligence
The application of algorithms and programming, which is typically an analytical or problem-solving application that can perform tasks that would otherwise require the application of human intelligence. Where the application is an entity such as a robot, then the outcome would typically also involve replicating the physical skill and dexterity of humans.
Artificial intelligence is (in 2025) still very much overhyped with what it can achieve and is still essentially categorised as being narrow AI, performing specific tasks, in contrast to the general AI often portrayed in science fiction movies.
Artificial intelligence can be utilised in grounds management as an aid to learning and productivity by being able to provide more rapid answers and solutions to problems and scenarios. Examples include OpenAI, Chat GPT, Copilot, DeepSeek, Siri, Alexa, Gemini, and many more.
All of these can be used in some way to complement tutors, help with homework, provide ideas for workplace solutions and more.
One important consideration to getting the most from these AI applications is being able to ask the correct question.
Consideration also needs to be given to the likelihood that specific turfgrass and grounds management information may not have formed much of the language learning model for these applications so they may not be able to provide an adequate response for many a posed question.
