This is typically measured by the time it takes for a bowl to be delivered to within 150mm of a jack, from a distance of 27.4m.
• Fast green = 14 - 16 seconds.
• Medium speed green is 12 – 13 seconds.
• Slow green is 10 – 11 seconds.
• A very fast green would be anything over 17 seconds.

The longer the time it takes for a bowl to gradually travel to the jack the greater the draw and control a bowler can exert on the bowl.
