This term, which is usually abbreviated to VARK, and is an approach to learning and is sometimes seen as focusing on styles of learning (according to Neil Fleming), with Reading also including writing and Kinesthetic also including doing.

However, rather than inferring that a learner has a preference for one of these ‘styles’ which supposedly improves their ability to learn, although extensive objective evidence doesn’t support this, it is more helpful to consider these as ways in which a learning programme can be varied and integrated to deliver an effect message to better reinforce that which is being learnt.

Enjoyment in one ‘style’ of learning doesn’t equate to effectiveness of learning. See Learning Styles.
