Guidance
Information provided by a regulatory organisation, such as the HSE. Health and safety advice is provided by the HSE to help you understand your legal duties in complying with the law. Other agencies, organisations, or experts provide information which can interpret legal requirements and helps individuals and organisations to effectively implement legislation. Keeping up to date with guidance information is essential because changes in legislation, technology and working practices can impact on whether regulatory compliance is being achieved, or not.
Guidance may also be in the form of suggested working practices and templates which can be updated for an organisation’s specific working activities.
Guidance information is not usually legally binding, although often it will often be indicative of good practice and as such can be used as a contribution towards demonstrating legal compliance.
