A lack of, or very limited, interest in work. Demotivation can express itself in individuals in many ways which can often lead to an unhappy workforce, reduced productivity, staff doing only the minimum, reduced quality of output, lateness, absenteeism, disengagement with others, negative expressions about work and management in particular, persistent negative mood, limited or no contribution to teams, lack of co-operating with others, not trusting others, theft - often on a small scale and damage to work equipment due to lack of care and attention, poor pay or poor working conditions. It is clearly in the interests of everyone to identify the causes of the demotivation and address these as a matter of urgency.
