Downtime

Non-productive time when a system is not working, equipment is not being used or when staff are resting from work.

This can be either planned downtime, which might be as part of a routine maintenance programme with scheduled breaks or servicing of machines, or unplanned downtime which might be due to machine breakdown, accidents requiring further investigation, system (especially IT) malfunctions, unavailability of materials due to delays, or other causes.
