Indicative

This is included within a statement when it is suggesting that something is similar to, comparable to, likely to, typical of, representative of, a point or observation being made but without a definitive confirmation of outcome. Depending on the context it can have an inferred element of doubt or uncertainty within the statement but can be considered a fair interpretation or approach for the initial purpose of general guidance.
An example might be “The condition of the pitch is indicative of one that is well maintained.” The appearance is such that the pitch looks good, however, there may be underlying problems which are not currently evident and are being masked by ideal growing conditions, which may also include minimal or no play taking place, thus giving an inaccurate picture of the true longer-term condition of the pitch.
