Total Qualification Time

The total amount of time, usually in hours, that an average learner, without learning difficulties or disabilities, would reasonably need to achieve a qualification.

This would include the guided learning hours (which involve tutor / teacher contact), self-study time, practical work, completion of a portfolio or other course work, course induction, assessment requirements and other time needed for a successful outcome.

This value has been requested by the qualifications’ regulatory authority, Ofqual, since October 2015.
