Advanced Sports Turf Technician

An individual who is responsible for ensuring that natural grass sports surfaces, including reinforced-hybrid pitches, (but excluding fully artificial, especially synthetic ones) are prepared for play at the appropriate level.

They carry out required maintenance work themselves and also supervise staff.

This term covers a range of job titles, including deputy head grounds or course manager, skilled grounds person, senior greenkeeper, groundskeeper or grounds person.

There is a Level 3 apprenticeship standard for this role, which was originally available from October 2022 and superseded the Advanced Golf Greenkeeper standard, which just related to golf.
