The ability to thinking of new and different ways of solving problems, improving working practices, improving product features, developing new ideas, products, processes to benefit an individual and organisation.

Creative thinking is sometimes thought of as ‘thinking outside of the box’ and often involves challenging the status quo and not accepting that the current approach is the best; continuous improvement can be an outcome of the creative thinking process.

Improvements in efficiency can save time and money, also potentially contributing to an improvement in product or service quality but without increased costs. Creativity can result in an innovation, which can be classed as a sub-set of creativity, and which earns income for an individual or organisation.
