Facilitative Learning
Learners are encouraged to take more ownership of their learning journey, being pro-active in their learning by having a greater emphasis on discussing, enquiring, exploring, interacting with others, investigating, researching, self-assessing, and also working independently to manage and control their learning.
A teacher or coach acts as the facilitator, guiding and supporting the learner as required but with the initiative for requirements coming from the learner in the first instance.
It is also called facilitated learning and facilitative teaching and was developed by the psychologist Carl Rogers as a humanist approach for learner-centred teaching.
