Gagne's 5 Conditions of Learning
A theory of learning, devised by Robert Gagne, in which there are 5 main categories of learning, and which help in the process of the acquisition of skills and knowledge. These are:
1. Verbal information.
2. Intellectual skills.
3. Cognitive strategies.
4. Motor skills.
5. Attitudes.
Successful achievement of a desired learning outcome can be achieved by applying, in sequence, the appropriate 9 instructional design events to serve as the basis for the conditions of successful learning. These are:
1. Gaining attention.
2. Informing learners of the objective.
3. Stimulating recall of prior learning.
4. Presenting the stimulus.
5. Providing learning guidance.
6. Eliciting performance.
7. Providing feedback.
8. Assessing performance.
9. Enhancing retention and transfer.
