A constructivist theory of learning that is based on Kolb's ideas, which identifies 4 types of learner and how best they learn. These are

1. Activists: practical; team worker; hands on problem solver; like to get involved and have the flexibility to adapt to change rather than follow a rigid plan.

2. Reflectors: deeper thinkers; observing from a distance; incorporate observations into their theories and ideas; looking to continually improve on ways of doing things only after analysing data; like to have a planned approach with a suitable timescale to carry out their tasks.

3. Theorist: concepts; analysing complex issues; continually strive for ideal solution; take an objective view; like structured approaches.

4. Pragmatists: applying knowledge in a practical, realistic situation; like to build on existing ideas.
