Yellow Tuft
A disease which is rarely seen in the UK and then only on bent grasses during the main growing periods of spring and autumn, appearing as a clumps or tufts, ranging in size typically from 6mm to 30mm in diameter, of yellowish leaves which are easily pulled out of a sward. It has a preference for poorly drained, wet surfaces, including swards with undesirable levels of thatch and infected turf will die out if dry conditions prevail. It is caused by Sclerophthora macrospora. This disease is also known as Downy Mildew.
