A surface covering of natural grass. A turf surface includes the leaves and roots within a growing medium. It may refer to an existing established surface, or a surface that has been cut to be relaid as turf. Turf used for creating a lawn may come from several sources: Cultivated Turf; Meadow Turf; or rarely, Sea-washed Turf. The term Turf is also sometimes referred to as a Sward, Turf Sward or a Sod.
