A common Perennial grass, with the scientific name of Poa pratensis ssp pratensis; or sometime just Poa pratensis. Its common name is also Smooth meadow grass. The leaf is Flat or rolled, having a typical width of 2-4mm. The Ligule is Membranous, being 1-3mm in length; Auricle?: No. Growth type is Rhizomatous. It is a hard-wearing grass, with rhizomes. It takes up to twelve months to be fully developed and is often overlooked by turf managers for the more readily available and quicker establishing Perennial Ryegrass. The underground vegetative spreading nature of this grass can complement the characteristics of Perennial Ryegrass.
