An individual who has an intimate understanding of their occupation, who ensures their knowledge and skills are current, as well as having insight into current applications.

A professional will also demonstrate an ability to help others and extend the boundaries of their disciplines to generate new ideas and methods which expand the knowledge bank for their occupation.
