Grounds Manager
An individual who manages one or more of the following: a sports ground, school ground, playing field, park, green open spaces, or similar.
Their duties and responsibilities will typically include activities such as:
- managing staff (motivating, guiding, supporting, carrying out performance appraisals etc.).
- creating, maintaining management plans, including an annual maintenance programme; providing daily and weekly schedules to staff.
- maintaining a safe system of work.
- budget planning, monitoring and responsibility.
- providing development and improvement proposals.
- equipment and machinery procurement.
- customer (for example other managers, senior managers, members of the public, club coaches, players) communications and liaison, including attending meetings.
- compliance with ever changing regulations.
- reporting on targets and outcomes, either verbally, through written reports or presentations.
- ensuring playing surfaces are safe and playable in most conditions.
- ensuring surfaces and facilities are maintained in accordance with desired standards and contract conditions (if applicable).
- ensuring cost-effective and sustainable practices are applied throughout the site being managed.
