Flail Mower
A powered mower with many chains, or T- or Y- shaped metal blades which are attached to a central shaft. The mowing action is essentially that of pulverising the vegetation. There are some flail mowers which can be used on relatively short turf surfaces, although the quality of finish will never match that of a rotary mower, let alone a cylinder mower. They are mostly used for scrub and longer amenity turf areas.
