The creation of lengths of material, which has its blade width cut lengthwise to form slits and then twisted to form a web-like mesh network, resulting in a more stable surface, however, but are less durable than monofilament strands and more prone to splitting at the tip of the strand. They are said to be designed to split over time, but this is actually a consequence of the manufacturing process and wear which takes place. Fibrillated strands can provide more of a natural grass appearance than monofilament strands.
