A common Perennial grass, with the scientific name of Cynosurus cristatus. The leaf is Flat or rolled, having a typical width of 1-4mm. The Ligule is Membranous, being 0.5-1.5mm in length; Auricle?: No. Growth type is Tufted. It is a flat bladed grass that was often used in some seed mixtures in the 1960s and 1970s, especially to complement perennial ryegrass. However, it does not integrate well with other species and perennial ryegrass is also a far superior species so there is currently little requirement for the use of Crested dog's-tail within seed mixtures.
