Species of turfgrass that grow in cooler climates and which use the C3 pathway of photosynthesis, which is in contrast to warmer climates. The optimum growing temperatures for cool season grasses is typically between 15ËšC and 24ËšC. Examples of the main cool season turfgrass species in the UK are: Common and Highland Bent; Creeping Bent; Perennial Ryegrass; the Red Fescues, and Smooth Stalked Meadow Grass.
