These implement the requirements of the European Council Directive 92/43/EEC, on the conservation of natural habitats and of wild fauna and flora (EC Habitats Directive), as well as parts of the EU Wild Birds Directive 2009/147/EEC on the conservation of birds.
The aim being to protect biodiversity through the conservation of important natural habitats and species of wild fauna and flora through appropriate protection and management of the relevant habitats and species.
