Calibrate
To determine the required settings for an item of equipment to accurate delivering a material, such as a grass seed, fertiliser or pesticide, to a surface. Correct calibration ensures under or over application does not occur.
To calibrate a spinning disc spreader the following approach might be considered:
1. Select a test area ¯ hard or soft surface;
2. Position the spreader about 6m behind any starting line you will be using for calculating the applied rate;
3. Measure out a distance you will use for the calibration (let us say 20m) and put a marker at this position;
4. Make sure the drop-hole in the base of the spreader is closed, otherwise fertiliser material will start to fall out before you have started;
5. Half fill the hopper (for example, this might be 10kg of material, depending upon the size of the spreader);
